Transparent Armor Potting Sealant

Doubles the service life of military transparent armor systems while reducing maintenance costs and improving mission readiness.

Transparent armor delamination costs the DoD an estimated $100M annually in premature windshield failures. While conventional approaches focus on modifying the armor itself, Luna Labs identified the sealant as the root cause.

Leveraging over 15 years of protective coatings expertise,  GlassLock is a proprietary polyurethane formulation specifically engineered to prevent delamination under the most demanding conditions.

Technical Details

GlassLock is a two-part polyurethane system designed for ease of use in manufacturing environments. The sealant is applied to open joints, gaps, and along the edges of transparent armor components secured into frames.

  • Compatible with standard meter, mix, and dispensing equipment
  • Room temperature curable with 7-day full cure time
  • Begins to gel after approximately 15 minutes, setting firm within 30-60 minutes
  • Suitable for both automated production and hand application
  • Compatible with materials and laminates produced according to ATPD 2352 Revision U
  • Stored at room temperature – no refrigeration required

Detailed product specifications, including material properties, application guidelines, handling requirements, and safety information are available in our technical documentation.

The Behind the Technology

GlassLock is a novel polyurethane formulation engineered to withstand the extreme temperature cycling and humidity conditions that transparent armor systems endure in field operations.

Close collaboration with transparent armor OEMs throughout development ensured GlassLock addresses real-world application requirements, combining materials science expertise with understanding of field performance conditions.

  • Third-party validation using U.S. Army test protocols
  • Full-scale transparent armor windshields tested
  • Simulates years of field exposure through cyclic temperature extremes and high humidity
  • Demonstrates exceptional resistance to delamination mechanisms
