Transparent Armor Potting Sealant
Doubles the service life of military transparent armor systems while reducing maintenance costs and improving mission readiness.
- Military armored vehicle transparent armor
- HMMWV, JLTV, MTVR, M-ATV
Transparent armor delamination costs the DoD an estimated $100M annually in premature windshield failures. While conventional approaches focus on modifying the armor itself, Luna Labs identified the sealant as the root cause.
Leveraging over 15 years of protective coatings expertise, GlassLock is a proprietary polyurethane formulation specifically engineered to prevent delamination under the most demanding conditions.
applied to military vehicle
Key Benefits
Proven Performance
- Proprietary polyurethane chemistry withstands extreme temperature cycling and humidity
- Achieves 8 cycles of environmental on full-scale transparent armor windows - sufficient for installation on in-service U.S. military vehicles
- Dramatically outperforms traditional protective coatings that fail within just a few cycles
- GlassLock 2.0 is on track to achieve the 12-cycle performance benchmark
Made in America for U.S. Defense
- Engineered specifically to prevent transpaent armor delamination
- Manufactured at production scale in the United States
- Over 1500 gallons sold to OEMs and delivered for installation on in-service military assets
Safety and Protection
- Solvent-free and plasticizer-free formulation for safer application and reduced environmental impact
- Prevents transparent armor failures that impede warfighters' ability to rapidly respond to operational threats
- Maintains optical clarity for visibility
- Ensures critical asset protection systems remain reliable where lives depend on equipment performance
Double Service Life, Reduce Costs
- Estimated to double service life of transparent armor systems compared to current 3-4 year average
- Reduces the estimated $100M annual replacement costs by reducing the frequency of expensive windshield replacements
- Minimizes vehicle downtime and improves fleet readiness
Technical Details
GlassLock is a two-part polyurethane system designed for ease of use in manufacturing environments. The sealant is applied to open joints, gaps, and along the edges of transparent armor components secured into frames.
- Compatible with standard meter, mix, and dispensing equipment
- Room temperature curable with 7-day full cure time
- Begins to gel after approximately 15 minutes, setting firm within 30-60 minutes
- Suitable for both automated production and hand application
- Compatible with materials and laminates produced according to ATPD 2352 Revision U
- Stored at room temperature – no refrigeration required
